Punic War
Their were three Punic Wars that took place over a century ago, and they were between Carthage and Rome. It began in 264 B.C. and ended in 146 B.C. by the destruction of Carthage. Rome became the dominant power through the Italian Peninsula, when the first Punic War broke out. The war ended with Rome in control and marked the empires emergence as known as a land power. The second Punic War, the great Carthaginians invaded Italy and got great victories, and in 202 B.C. the Africanus left Rome in control of the Western Mediterranean and much part of Spain. In the third Punic War, the Romans, captured and destroyed the city of of Carthage in 146 B.C. and turned Africa into mighty Roman Empire. Through all these wars Rome was the successful empire of them all.
